Our Contribution

We were engaged to execute the core components of the exterior improvement scope. Our team managed the demo of outdated facade elements to prepare substrate surfaces. We specialized in the installation of new, durable cladding and weather-barrier systems. The scope included coordinating the replacement of exterior windows and doors for better efficiency. We ensured all installations adhered strictly to government housing construction standards.

Key Features

The project features the installation of low-maintenance, high-durability modern siding materials. Energy-efficient windows fitted with insulated glazing units were integrated throughout the complex. Enhanced thermal insulation layers were applied to improve the buildings' overall R-value. New, robust exterior entrance doors were installed to increase security for occupants. An updated exterior color scheme and modern finishes have revitalized the property's visual character.

Challenges and Solutions

Executing extensive exterior work on occupied buildings required managing significant safety and noise concerns. Solution: We implemented strict phased scheduling and daily clean-up protocols to minimize resident disruption. Discovering concealed structural damage behind existing facades threatened the timeline. Solution: A rapid-response structural repair workflow was established with the architect to resolve issues quickly. Strict adherence to budget constraints typical of government projects was essential.

Impact and Benefits

The new exterior envelope significantly enhances the curb appeal and community pride for the Norfolk Housing Authority. The upgrades have led to noticeable improvements in thermal comfort and energy efficiency for the buildings. Using durable materials will drastically reduce long-term maintenance costs for the government agency. Enhanced exterior elements contribute to a safer and more secure environment for users. The project successfully extended the service life of crucial government assets.
